What to do

Earthquake

Drop to the floor, Cover your head under a strong table, Hold On until the shaking stops.

Fire

Get out and stay out. Crawl low under smoke. If clothes catch fire: Stop, Drop and Roll.

Flood

Go to high ground with a grown-up. Never play or walk in flood water.

Lightning

Go inside a building. Stay away from trees, poles and open water.

Heat

Drink water often, wear light clothes and stay out of the midday sun.

Lost or scared

Stay calm, find a safe adult such as a teacher or police officer, and say your name and phone number.

My go-bag

Ask a grown-up to help you pack: water bottle, torch, biscuits or dry snacks, a whistle, a small first-aid kit, a family contact card and a favourite small toy or book.

Games and quizzes

Play safe or unsafe? with your family: one person names an action, the others shout "Safe!" or "Unsafe!". Sit in the lift during a fire? Unsafe! Meet at the assembly point? Safe!

Parents and teachers: ODM can run safety sessions and mock drills in your school. Request a session.
